Stephanie recently moved back home to Maine and has set up her studio in New Harbor. She took a long detour to Oregon where she received a BFA from the Oregon College of Art and Craft.
"Handmade pottery is meant to be used, to hold your morning coffee or serve a special meal. Pottery holds fingerprints and errant brushstrokes. I focus on seemingly simple textures and patterns that are far from manufactured and uniform. All these things that can easily be overlooked, the little details that make the world interesting. How glaze pools in a crevice, the way water beads on wax, rust on fire escapes, and cracks in ice. Bringing these details into daily use is a small but important push-back against all the things that feel anonymous in life."
